GE IC695LRE001 RX3i Local Expansion Module

How It Works

The IC695LRE001 acts as a master on the serial expansion bus. It transmits data from the main RX3i CPU to the I/O modules in the expansion backplanes. An I/O module in an expansion backplane acts as a slave, receiving commands and sending data back through the bus. This system provides a cost-effective way to add more I/O points to a PLC system without needing to run a long and complex multi-wire cable for every single I/O point.

الوصف

The GE IC695LRE001 is a Serial Bus Transmitter module for the PACSystems RX3i series of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Its main purpose is to extend the RX3i’s backplane to accommodate additional I/O modules in separate, remote locations. It’s the “bridge” that allows the main CPU in the universal backplane to communicate with I/O modules in expansion or remote backplanes.

Key Features and Specifications

  • Expansion Function: The module translates the high-speed universal backplane signals into a serial bus protocol, enabling communication with expansion backplanes (like the IC694- or IC693-series). This allows for a decentralized I/O architecture.
  • Slot Occupancy: It does not occupy a standard I/O slot on the universal backplane. Instead, it plugs into a dedicated expansion connector on the right side of the main backplane.
  • Connectivity: The module has a 25-pin connector on the front for attaching an expansion cable. The supported cable types and lengths are specific, with a maximum total cable length of 15 meters (50 feet) for expansion backplanes and up to 213 meters (700 feet) for remote backplanes.
  • Data Rate: It has an effective data rate of up to 500k Bytes per second.
  • System Expansion: A single RX3i system can be expanded with up to seven additional backplanes connected to the IC695LRE001, providing a highly scalable solution for applications with a large number of I/O points.
