الوصف
The GE IS200EHFCH2ACB Exciter Fan Control Board (EHFC) is a specialized electronic module used in the GE EX2100e Excitation Control System.
Its core function is to provide dedicated, intelligent control and monitoring of the cooling fans associated with the high-power Thyristor (SCR) Power Converters (bridges). This ensures optimal thermal management and high availability of the excitation system.
⚙️ Key Functions and Features
The EHFC board is designed to enhance the reliability of the exciter system by managing the power bridge cooling system, especially in 100 mm Thyristor Control applications. It often mounts directly onto the Gate Pulse Amplifier (EHPA) board.
1. Lead/Lag Fan Control
- Redundant Operation: The board manages two fans per power converter section in a lead/lag configuration.
- The lead fan runs under normal operating conditions to provide active cooling.
- The lag fan remains on standby as a redundant backup.
- Automatic Switchover: If the lead fan fails, the EHFC board automatically and immediately activates the lag fan to ensure continuous cooling and prevent overheating.
2. Proactive Diagnostics and Testing
- Automatic Testing: The lag fan is subject to an automatic functional test when the system is powered on and periodic testing (e.g., weekly or daily) while the EX2100e system is operating.
- Fault Detection: The board monitors fan status and provides advanced fault detection and reporting to the main control system (DSPX) for prompt intervention.
- Protection: If both fans fail on a single power converter section, the EHFC will trigger an automatic shutdown mechanism to protect that converter section from thermal damage.
3. Energy and Maintenance Management
- Temperature-Based Control: To conserve energy, the fans can be stopped by the control system when the power converter temperature drops below a specified threshold after a system shutdown.
- Sequencing: The control board ensures that fans start in a sequenced manner rather than simultaneously. This prevents high inrush currents and reduces peak current demands on the power source.
- Maintenance: Features allow for manual swapping of the lead and lag fans using a local pushbutton or a remote control source (like VersaMax I/O) for scheduled maintenance and wear balancing.
The EHFC board is critical because fan failure in the power conversion cabinet can lead to rapid overheating and shutdown, which the board’s design mitigates through redundancy and intelligent control.
