Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR)
The MP3101 is built on the principle of Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR). This architecture is the foundation of its exceptional reliability and safety. Instead of a single processor, the module integrates three independent processing channels that continuously monitor and validate each other’s outputs.
- Two-out-of-three (2oo3) voting: If one of the three channels fails or produces an incorrect result, the other two channels “vote” to ignore the faulty one.
- Automatic fault isolation: The system automatically isolates the failed channel without interrupting the control process. This allows for continuous operation even with a module failure.
- High availability: This TMR design eliminates any single point of failure, giving the system an extremely high availability rating, which is crucial in safety-critical environments.
