The GE IS200STTCH1A is a Thermocouple Terminal Board for the GE Mark VI (MKVI) turbine control system. Its main function is to provide a physical connection and cold-junction compensation for thermocouple temperature sensors.
Function and Purpose ⚙️
The IS200STTCH1A serves as the crucial interface between the turbine’s thermocouples and the main control processor. Thermocouples are sensors that measure temperature by generating a voltage. This voltage is proportional to the temperature difference between the measurement junction and the reference junction.
The board provides a secure termination point for the wiring from these sensors. More importantly, it incorporates cold-junction compensation (CJC) circuitry. CJC is a vital feature that measures the temperature of the terminal block itself to correct for any voltage fluctuations caused by ambient temperature changes. This ensures that the thermocouple’s measured voltage accurately reflects the temperature at the hot junction, providing a highly precise temperature reading for the control system.
Related Components 🤝
The IS200STTCH1A works in conjunction with other components of the Mark VI system:
- Thermocouple I/O Packs: These electronic modules, such as the IS200TCI, mount directly on the terminal board and contain the active electronics for converting the analog voltage into a digital signal that the main processor can use.
- Processor Cards: The main CPU of the system, which reads the digitized temperature data from the I/O packs.
- Thermocouple Sensors: These are the actual temperature sensors located in the field, such as on the turbine’s exhaust, bearings, or other critical components.
